16th Annual Hilo Community SingAlong Messiah
βΉοΈEvent Details
πAbout This Event
Open to both seasoned vocalists and enthusiastic first-timers, the Sing-Along Messiah blends performance and participation, transforming the audience into the choir. All are welcome to come join this holiday tradition of singing Part One or "Christmas Portions" of Handel's well-known masterpiece, "Messiah," plus the famous "Hallelujah Chorus." It's also OK to just attend and sit and listen and enjoy the music. Eleven community soloists will perform the arias and recitatives. Herb Mahelona is conducting, and accompaniment is provided by Walter Greenwood on organ and Rick Mazurowski on piano continuo. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own music scores, but music scores will also be available at the door to borrow or purchase. It is a free event. The event will begin with Dr Nicole Weston of Hawaii Island Community Gospel Choir singing a warm-up number with the audience, and Messiah soloists from past years. Dr Weston will lead the spiritual "Go Tell It On the Mountain."
