Two days of music activation with ManaFest artists at Kalani. Voice, rhythm, ancestral song, and community in lush Puna. Ready to sing your heart out?
Feel the music do the healing

Ever wanted to hear your own voice rise like the trade winds and actually trust it? Picture this: palms swaying, the soft hush of the ocean, and a circle that says “you belong here.” That’s the vibe at Mana Music Retreat—two soulful days of song, rhythm, and real connection in lush Pāhoa.
What to expect
You’ll step into a welcoming ʻohana of creatives and seekers. Think voice activation that melts nerves, songwriting that feels like channeling, and rhythms that move from your hands to your heart. The air smells like plumeria and rain. Slack-key style strums drift between workshops. You’ll hum on your walk to lunch, then find yourself harmonizing with new friends by afternoon.
Workshops run 9:30am–4:30pm each day (Jan 20–21) at Kalani Retreat Center. Expect:
- ●Soul-forward vocal journeys, intuitive improvisation, and lyric weaving
- ●Rhythm labs that connect beat with emotion
- ●Ancestral song techniques and “music as medicine” sessions
- ●Space to collaborate, laugh, and actually finish a song
The people behind the magic
This retreat is guided by artists from ManaFest—musicians rooted in spirit, culture, and community.
- ●Hawane Rios brings Hawaiian mele with deep aloha ʻāina—music that carries kupuna wisdom.
- ●Sierra Marin flows through freestyle and cypher—playful, liberating, and wildly supportive.
- ●Aminah Chishti’s tabla and Raga traditions reveal rhythm as devotion—pure pulse and presence.
- ●Sara Tone blends heart-led storytelling with dub textures that ground and uplift.
- ●Hope Medford shares percussion as connection—signature beats that wake your body up.
- ●SAISHA (Kauaʻi) channels nature and voice into medicine music that feels like remembering.
You’ll learn directly in circle with them—no velvet rope, just open hearts and clean, clear sound.

Insider tips (from our own time at Kalani)
- ●Arrive 15–20 minutes early to ground under the palms and set an intention.
- ●Bring a water bottle, light layers, and a small notebook—ideas will come fast.
- ●Slippers are perfect; you’ll move between indoor spaces and shaded paths.
- ●Pack snacks or a light lunch; there are chill spots to eat and chat between sessions.
- ●Carpool if you can. Puna roads are relaxed, and it’s a nice way to meet your retreat crew.
Why we love it
Because it’s not just “learning”—it’s remembering. Your voice, your rhythm, your way of telling story. The teaching is world‑class, but the vibe is friendly, patient, and deeply human. You’ll leave with songs in your pocket and new ʻohana in your phone.
